I'm always looking for ways to help my nails grow and remain strong and healthy. So when I saw an article about how Khloe Kardashian keeps her nails long and strong I was tempted enough to click it. As disinterested as I am in the lives and exploits of the Kardashian clan, I'm not one to pass up on learning about new ways...
Pigment powders of all sorts have been burning up in the nail art world. There's chrome, holographic, and chameleon – some of which are also called "mirror" pigment powders. Chameleon powders are called as such because they make the nail shift between two colours, but they can also be called mirror powders because of their ability to make the nail shiny and reflect...
If you live in Canada, or basically anywhere that isn't the United States, then you'll probably understand the struggles of online shopping. Shipping internationally isn't cheap, and after conversion of the dollar, shipping costs, and sometimes even duties, it almost isn't worth it to shop online at all. I scoured the internet for the cheapest stamping mat I could possibly find. I really...
Matte polish is trending, and you can make some really cute nail designs with matte polish. However, some matte polishes don't last as well as glossy polishes, which means chipping down the road. And we all hate it when our freshly painted nails start chipping early. One typically wants at least a couple days of wear out of their nails. A lot of...
Covergirl's Plumpify BlashPro Mascara, retail $9.97CAD Walmart I recently received Covergirl's Plumpify BlashPro Mascara in Black from BzzAgent to test and review for free. I was super excited to try this product, as last year I tried Covergirl's Super Sizer mascara through them and fell in love with it. Since then, this mascara has been my favourite drugstore mascara and my every day...
If you're a nail artist, I'm sure you've heard of the Born Pretty Store. Born Pretty is a beauty supply store based in China that sells inexpensive nail art tools and supplies. Oftentimes, they send nail art bloggers some of their products for free to test and review in order to promote their store. And I’m no exception to the wide array of...
If you came to this blog post for free nail polish, then you're in the wrong place. "Free" nail polish is polish that does not contain the "big 3" toxic ingredients. These polishes are called "3 Free", and they do not contain formaldehyde, dibutyl phyhalate, and toluene. I'm going to be honest, I can't pronounce most of those ingredients. These complicated-to-pronounce words are all carcinogens, AKA, substances capable of causing cancer in living tissue. There are also some companies that are going so far as to create "5 Free" nail polishes, which do not contain the big 3 as well as camphor and formaldehyde resin. Most polishes are 3 free or 5 free, but there are also a few brands that are going so far as to produce "7 Free" polishes that do not contain the big 5, as well as parabens and xylene.
Before you freak out and chuck all of your nail polish in your trash bin, fear not! Many nail polish brands have been making their products 3 free or 5 free these past few years. But this doesn't mean that you have to raid your nail polish stash and root out the oldies that aren't 3 or 5 free. Most of these ingredients will not give you any extreme damage or long term effects. Unless you have easily irritable skin, these ingredients may not effect you at all. So unless you're inhaling your older bottles to get a buzz, "free" polishes may not be much of a concern for you. The reason why "free" nail polish is important and a concern for many today is with all of these chemicals being used in cosmetics, and not fully knowing the long term effects of exposure, why risk their use?
If you're interested in knowing which nail polish brands are 3 and 5 free, I've compiled a small list below of some of the bigger brands of polish. However, I cannot personally guarantee that all of these polishes and their formulas are 3 or 5 free, so please do your research before purchasing! I cannot iterate this enough, especially because some blog posts have claimed that certain polishes are not 3 free. However, some of these posts are a few years old and therefore outdated. Some new collections of polish are being made without these harmful ingredients now. So please, please, please, do your research, read the ingredients on the bottles before purchase, or try and contact the brand to make an inquiry!
I hope that you all enjoyed this post and found it helpful!

This week, I received Lise Watier's HydraForce Hydra-Protective Comforting Creme to test and review from Glam Sense (Please note that I received these products for free to test and review from Glam Sense. The following review and opinions are solely my own.). I was mostly excited to receive this product because I needed a better facial moisturizer. I'm currently using one that I like,...
This month, I received the Bioré Baking Soda Pore Cleanser and Cleansing Scrub from Influenster, free for testing purposes. I am so excited to try these products, as my face has been breaking out recently. I am always on the hunt to find a new face routine, as nothing has been extremely effective on me in the past. For the past month and...
I'm sure by now that anyone who's into nail art has seen or heard of the shattered glass nail art trend. Originating from South Korea, shattered glass nails have blown up in the nail art world. The finished designs are stunning, edgy, and downright gorgeous. To achieve this look, you cut holographic cellophane or mylar paper into tiny, jagged pieces to adhere to...
