Picture Polish

15:08

So this post has been a long time coming. Back in June I won a contest on a Picture Polish Facebook giveaway and I've been meaning to post pictures of the swatches for ages. I would have posted these swatches sooner but I've been so busy with working a new full time job, going camping, breaking nails while camping, and binge watching Game of Thrones (which I hadn't gotten into until now. I know, I'm a bit behind the times).

I won a $100 gift card to spend on Picture Polish's website on whatever I wanted. Until recently I didn't own many holographic polishes, so I took this opportunity to purchase a bunch of holos to add to my collection of 250+ nail polishes. In total I chose eight polishes: one creme and seven holographic ones. Because I already own so many creme polishes, I've swatched all of the holographic ones for you and have left out the swatch of the one creme that I picked.

Keep reading below if you want to check out these gorgeous holographic polishes. And did I mention yet that they're all 5 free and vegan?!

Rebelle
A soft peach/pink holographic collaboration polish with Mary Monkett (est. 2015). I found that the holo glitter is very faint and overall not extremely noticeable. It's very similar to the shade Blush (the creme polish that I chose that isn't pictured), which is lacking holographic glitter and is slightly softer in colour. And in case you were wondering, I forgot to take a picture of this swatch before I put on the Marie decal. Oops!

Remember
This polish is a collaboration with Melyne (est. 2016) that is marketed as a jelly, however, I found it to be opaque in 1-2 coats. The swatch I took looks like a soft red but depending on the lighting it can look like more of a burgundy. This colour is gorgeous and a shade perfect for fall.

Talisman
A collaboration polish with Tanya Wish (est. 2016). A beautiful black scatter holo that looks best when viewed under sunlight or concentrated indoor lighting. In other lighting, the polish looks black with silver flecks. I'm excited to try out some fun Halloween designs with this colour when the season comes.

Bluebird
Bluebird is a beautiful blue with a purple iridescent shift and is a collaboration polish with Kelli Marissa (est. 2016). On Picture Polish's website the swatch shown looks like more of an azure blue. However, in some lighting (like in the swatch above) I find this colour to be a much softer baby blue.

Eerie

Eerie is a collaboration polish with Very Emily (est. 2014) and is probably one of my favourite shades out of all of the polishes that I won. It's a gorgeous soft lilac shade with a soft scatter holo finish.

Kryptonite

This polish is another one of my favourites, and after looking at the polish's name you're either going to get the Superman theme or "Kryptonite" by 3 Doors Down stuck in your head. This is a collaboration polish with More Nail Polish (est. 2012) and is a stunning forrest green scatter holo. Some holographic polishes only look good in certain lighting, but Kryptonite looks phenomenal in any lighting. This is a perfect shade for fall or Christmas nail art.

Hercynia
I've saved this product for last for two reasons. The first being that I broke my nail while camping and ended up swatching this polish with a false nail. The second reason is because I cannot for the life of me find this polish on Picture Polish's website anymore. I guess it was limited edition or is now retired. Nail Polish Canada carries a lot of retired shades, and it can still be found on their website if you are interested in the polish. Hercynia is a lovely computer chip green scatter holo and is a collaboration polish with Nailderella (est. 2014). Green is a nail polish colour that I'm usually very apprehensive to wear without a white base because it has a tendency to stain my nails. However, I did not have this problem with Hercynia or Kryptonite.
