Hey guys! So if you're a regular on my blog, you'll see that I've been reviewing some products from Beauty Big Bang lately. They're a Chinese nail art company that offers a wide variety of nail art tools and supplies. They're pretty new to the nail art industry and offer some pretty decent competition against other nail art retailers such as Born Pretty Store, Whats Up Nails, and Twinkled T. One of my favourite features about this retailer is how they offer free shipping worldwide! Not a lot of retailers offer that to countries outside of the US, so this is a main selling point for a Canadian like me.
 
One of the three products that I chose to test and review were these stunning chameleon flakes (product ID#J2105-1C). This is my favourite product that I received from Beauty Big Bang. The flakes look iridescent inside of the packaging, but when you apply them over a black nail polish they become multicolour and shift from green, to yellow and orange depending on the angles of light that hit them.


I also really like how you don't need gel polish to apply this product. You can apply it over regular polish that is slightly tacky. When dry, you seal it with a top coat and it becomes smooth to the touch. I was really surprised by this because I've had shattered glass nails before where the coloured flakes start peeling after a day.


You can also try a more concentrated look with the flakes if you buff them onto your tacky polish. When you wear them this way the effect is really cool! It almost looks like dragon eggs or snake skin. While I preferred the scattered effect on my nails, both methods of wear look pretty darn gorgeous.

In mid-August, a company called Beauty Big Bang contacted me to test and review some products for you guys. They're still relatively new to the nail art industry, but they're already providing some pretty tough competition against other nail art retailers such as Born Pretty Store, Twinkled T, and Whats Up Nails.

Like Born Pretty Store, Beauty Big Bang is based in China. Products can take awhile to ship, but it only took about a month and a half for the products to arrive for me. That may seem like a long time but other Chinese retailers have had me wait 2-3 months at a time for purchases to arrive so the wait wasn't that bad.


One of the products that I chose to receive were these stunning gold flakes. These flakes (product ID#J2430-GD) currently retail for $3.73CAD and come in gold and silver. They also do not require gel polish to apply as most flakes and powders on the market do. All of Beauty Big Bang's flakes and powders come with a small eyeshadow applicator sponge to apply the product with. I applied my black base, then put a thin coat of topcoat on and waited for it to get tacky, then lightly tapped the flakes onto the nail to get this scattered look.

If you like sites like Twinkled T, Whats Up Nails, or Born Pretty Store, then you will love Beauty Big Bang. They offer many inexpensive nail art supplies as well as free worldwide shipping. They let me pick 3-4 products for under $12, and this week I'll be posting separate reviews for the 3 products that I chose.

The first product that I chose to review was this beautiful crystal nail art brush in white (product ID #67155-1A). Right now the brush retails at $5.47CAD, which is a strong competition against the brushes sold by Twinkled T and other retailers. Because Beauty Big Bang offers free shipping, I would hands down recommend this product. Not many nail art sites offer free shipping for countries outside of the US, so if you live in Canada or anywhere else like me, then this is a total bargain! Plus, I've had to wait 2-3 months at a time for nail art supplies from Born Pretty Store (which like Beauty Big Bang, is a Chinese located company). Shipping was only about a month and a half for Beauty Big Bang.
Clean up brushes are essential for any great manicure. A wide tipped brush is excellent for getting into any nooks or crannies around your cuticles to provide a clean and flawless look. Cotton swabs can't get close to the nail without strands of cotton rubbing against the nail and ruining your mani. Nail art brushes are the best for cleaning up your nails, and this brush is so unbelievably cute because of all the rhinestones in it! I mean, just look at this beauty:

Holographic nail polish is hard to come across at your local drugstore, and all the good stuff is pretty much exclusively sold online. And if you live in Canada like me, that means that coming across ballin' nail polish with low shipping costs is another challenge altogether.

I found this website called Nail Polish Canada which seemed almost too good to be true. Free shipping when you spend $19 or more, and it offers many holographic nail polishes! Poor web design aside, this website offers holographic polishes from brands such as A England, Picture Polish, Cirque, ILNP, and Color Club. One collection that I really had my eyes on was the Halo Hues collection by Color Club. I don't have all of them, but what I do have is so freaking gorgeous that I had to share my swatches! I own seven of the polishes in total, and I can't wait to show you how lovely they are.

If you're reading this, then chances are that you may be at a trade show. I bet you're at an event, looking up Ruby Cosmetics on your cellphone after seeing a booth for their products being advertised. Or perhaps you've already purchased some of their products and now you're facing buyer's remorse, and wondering, did I just get suckered into buying these?

"For only $50, you can have the brow powder, application brush, a quad of eyeshadow, and a lipgloss!"

The offer truly was alluring. And after the girl at the kiosk spins you around in the chair to look at your reflection, you can't help but think "wow, my brows look amazing!" Your before and after is a stark contrast, and the employee raves about how great the product is. She even says, "I use it myself!"

The website claims that the brow powder gives "up to 24 hour, long lasting applications that are water proof, smudge proof and sweat proof." (Ruby Cosmetics).  Plus, the product comes with stencils for your eyebrows to make application easy and foolproof. It all seems too good to be true, right?

The verdict:

So I purchased the set of goodies from the girl at the kiosk, enjoyed the rest of the trade show, went home, and took a shower. Let me tell you, that eyebrow powder is not waterproof in the slightest; it washes off with ease. The powder looks great on me and lasts all day, and don't get me wrong, I use it everyday because finding a product that matches my blonde brows is a struggle. However, it's not something I'd be willing to drop $50 on again, even if it did come with all of the other goodies.

Speaking of the other goodies, I should talk about how those worked out for me. The eyeshadow quad that I picked up was their Shades of Perfection Eyeshadow in Brown. The eyeshadows weren't very pigmented, and there is a lot of fallout with the product. I also got their Hollywood Shimmer Lip Gloss in Brown, which had zero pigmentation and was the equivalent of just putting sticky glitter on my lips.

And a random side note, the products on their sites are listed at such steep prices that the employees really make you think that you are getting a good deal. The lip gloss is priced at $20, the eye shadow quad is $30, and the brow powder set is set at a whopping $80 (all prices in CAD).

This brand isn't one that I would recommend. The prices are a ripoff and the quality of the eyeshadows and lipgloss just aren't that good. I do like the brow powder, but it's not something that I'd be willing to drop $50 on again.
