Mitty Super Chrome - Grape Topaz

07:57

Hey guys! So recently I won an Instagram giveaway to test out some nail products by Mitty. I ended up picking out one of their Super Chrome nail powders and a nail art brush (which will be in a future post).

The Super Chrome that I really wanted to try out was the colour Grape Topaz. It took about a month to get to me, which honestly isn't that bad considering that it had to travel all the way from Australia to Canada!

At first I thought that the container was small with not that much powder inside, but a little goes a long way. I barely made a dent after doing a full set of nails, so you would definitely have enough for several applications.

Application is very easy. Base coat, black nail polish, a no-wipe gel top coat, buff the powder in with the eyeshadow applicators provided, then seal in with more gel top coat.

Some tips though, if you're not familiar with using gel top coats or using nail powders:

  • Be careful to not flood your cuticles with the gel top coat! Some of us may be a little lazy with cleaning our cuticles after applying nail polish. Sometimes I just wait until I shower, then pick off the dried nail polish from my skin when the skin softens. Don't do this! Gel nail polish dries differently than normal polish. Once you start peeling the polish from your skin, it will continue to lift and peel off of your nails!
  • Wrap the tips of your nails while using your polish and powder. White tips don't look good, and it made the polish more prone to peeling.
  • Black nail polish is the best base colour to use. I did try testing out a white base on one nail on my other hand, but it basically looked like a dulled down version of the nails you see above.

The finished result is mesmerizing! The powder is incredibly fine and gives a flawless mirror-effect. I've used similar powders by Born Pretty before that finish slightly patchy, but this powder buffed into the nail so flawlessly that you can actually see my ceiling fan on my nails in the image above! The colour shifted from pink, to purple, to blue, and even sometimes gold depending on the lighting. I got lots of compliments on these nails, even from men!

These nails were so gorgeous that I would definitely rock them again, and I'd love to try out some of Mitty's other Super Chromes or Super Holos. If you want to check out Mitty's other nail art supplies, be sure to click the link here.
