Nude By Nature - Review

09:07

When my friend who works at Shoppers Drugmart told me that GOSH was being discontinued from their stores, I was a little sad. Their metallic liquid liners were amazing and I rocked the heck out of them when I was in high school. But I'm 26 now, and need to rock some more "adult" makeup looks for when I go to work. GOSH has been pulled from Shoppers Drugmart's stores and has since been replaced with a new brand called Nude by Nature — a brand that boasts being made with 100% natural ingredients and is cruelty-free. The products are all free from parabens, silicone, siloxanes, phthalates, sulphate, PEGS, triclosan, phenoxyethanol, carmine, talc, and bismuth.

I wanted to love the brand because of their natural ingredients, but I'm always skeptical of trying new brands. I tend to trust brands that have been around for awhile and have a good track record with their consumer reviews. I've tried their primer before through a Chick Advisor campaign and it was okay. I wasn't exactly "wowed" by it. Not exactly something I was going to drop $32 on though. So my thoughts on Nude by Nature have been so-so until now.

So when I found out I was going to be sent more products by Nude by Nature through TopBox, I was excited to give some of their other products a go and give the brand another chance.
Nude By Nature Cashmere Pressed Blush - Desert Rose - $26
The blush that I received is their Cashmere Pressed Blush in the colour Desert Rose, and retails at $26. I was never a blush user until I received the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in the shade Paaarty as by birthday gift from Sephora. I don't have a lot of experience with blush, but I know that I like wearing it on days where I look especially pale and need a touch of colour. Desert Rose is very pigmented but looks very natural on my fair skin. I love the colour and don't know quite how to describe it. Not quite pink but not quite brown? Rosy brown? I don't know and I don't care, but I love it way more than my Tarte blush. You don't need to apply much effort with a brush to pick up the product. Just lightly swipe some product from the container and if you pick up too much, give your brush a good tap to get rid of some of the excess blush.
Nude by Nature Natural Definition Brow Palette - Blonde - $30
I received their Natural Definition Brow Palette in Blonde and so far I'm really digging it. I am so picky with brow products because it's hard to find eyebrow products that look natural on blondes. For some reason, a lot of makeup companies seem to think that blondes have orangey tones in their eyebrows. A lot of us don't! A lot of us have dirty blonde, dark grey, or even light brown eyebrows. Hell, the most natural looking eyebrow powder I've owned is dark grey/black and the shade is Charcoal. Buying brow products sucks because I can't try the products before I buy them to see if they match, so trying new products is always such a leap of faith. The Natural Definition Brow Palette is a dead-ringer for what I needed in my life. It looks so natural on my eyebrows, lasts all day, and is super pigmented. And the highlighting shade is also very nice and provides a subtle glow to make your brows pop. The only thing I'm sort of iffy on is the brush that comes with it. The tiny angled brush is so good for the tip of the brow and outlining, but filling the brows takes a few tries because it doesn't pick up a lot of product. Aside from that, this product is a wonderful match for my blonde, barely-there brows, and I'd definitely consider purchasing this product again after I finish my other brow products.
Nude by Nature Natural Glow Loose Bronzer - Bondi Bronze - $30
Their Natural Glow Loose Bronzer intimidated me when I first opened it because I thought it was going to be way too dark for me. The shade is Bondi Bronze, which appears to be the only shade of the loose powder bronzer that they sell (so far?). The powder looks so dark, I thought that applying it was going to be like smearing cocoa powder across my face. However, it actually looked very natural on my skin. This product is very pigmented though, and it's easy to pick up too much product. So when you pick up the product with your brush, give it a good ol' whack against the container to get rid of excess powder. I would definitely recommend this bronzer because it's so pretty and gives such a natural sun-kissed glow to fair skin.
Nude by Nature Travel Brush 10 - $28
Nude by Nature's Travel Brush (aka a retractable kabuki brush) was maybe my least favourite product that I was sent to review. And it's not because it's a bad brush. It's actually a very nice brush and I've been using it a lot lately to apply highlighter. The reason why it's my least favourite product is because it's comparable to the Ecotools Retractable Makeup Brush that I already use which is sooo much cheaper (only $7.99 USD). However, I will note that I appreciate that Nude by Nature's brushes are all made from high quality synthetic fibres that are hypoallergenic, which is perfect for anyone with sensitive skin.
Nude by Nature Contour Brush 04 - $33
Nude by Nature's Contour Brush is now probably one of my favourite go-to brushes that I will go to time and time again. I've been using it every day for blush, bronzer, and highlighter. It's been terrific at picking up pressed and loose powder makeup products, and like all of Nude by Nature's brushes, is made of high quality synthetic fibres that are hypoallergenic.

I'm glad that I was given a second chance to try some more of Nude by Nature's other products. I was pleasantly surprised by this brand and would love to try some more of their other products, such as their eyeshadows and brow mascara. I love how this brand uses 100% natural ingredients and is cruelty-free, and I hope that its presence in the makeup industry makes other brands aspire to be like them with their mission to create good-for-you products.

* The total value of all the products that I received is $147CAD.
